Known issues in 5.4.0 affecting login and imports
We’re tracking two regressions introduced with the 5.4.0 release. Details and scope below. We’ll post updates here as we progress on the fixes.
Users cannot log in after upgrading to API v5.4.0
Summary
Some instances report a failure during the database migration that populates the users.last_logged_in field, which then prevents logins.
Observed error (example)
There was an error in V540PopulateLastLoggedInDate.
SQLSTATE[22007]: Invalid datetime format: 1292 Incorrect datetime value: '4/24/25, 8:38 AM'
for column `passbolt`.`users`.`last_logged_in` at row 1
Query: UPDATE users SET last_logged_in = '4/24/25, 8:38 AM' WHERE id = '<UUID>'Impact
- Not all instances are affected.
- Reports suggest a link to specific locale or server configuration differences.
Affected version
- Passbolt API v5.4.0
Status
- A hotfix has been published
- As of 13/08 @ 23:15 CEST most 5.4.1 packages and assets are out, the rest should be out shortly. Please let us if you still encounter a similar issue after updating to 5.4.1, on the community forum.
Import action not working when E2EE metadata is disabled (includes Passbolt Cloud)
Summary
In Browser Extension v5.4.0, the Create → Import resources action does nothing (no UI reaction) when End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) metadata is disabled.
Impact
- Passbolt Cloud: all workspaces affected.
- Passbolt PRO/CE (self-hosted): affected only when E2EE metadata is disabled.
- Not affected: on-premise instances with E2EE metadata enabled.
Affected version
- Passbolt Browser Extension v5.4.0
Status
- A hotfix has been published
- As of 13/08 @ 23:15 CEST most 5.4.1 browser extension are in reviews in their respective webstores, and will be published when reviewed. Firefox will take some more time, as the previous version 5.4.0 was not approved yet.
Workarounds
- Cloud: none at this time.
- On-prem: enabling E2EE metadata may restore the Import action; if that’s not feasible, wait for the fix.
We’re sorry for the disruption. Thank you for your patience while we address these issues. Updates will be posted here as soon as they’re available.
